30 Day Challenge: Day 9

Hello! Sorry for the delay; I almost completely forgot about posting today! I don't even know why... I've hardly done anything today. ^^; I totally admit, I've just been lazy (which has to stop soon, since I have a film due for my media final in a couple weeks and a big English paper due Friday!! >.< ).

Day 28 – A picture of the perfect lolita location.
Day 29 – A picture of a lolita you would love to meet for real.
Day 30 – A photo of yourself taken today and 3 good things that’s happened over the last 30
days.
1.) Be overly nice/polite just for the sake of "acting like a REAL Lolita." I consider myself to be a polite person in real life in the first place, so I guess this isn't too big an issue for me (sometimes I even worry that people might think that I'm only acting polite to fit an ideal!), but I wouldn't go out of the way to be overly-sweet JUST because I'm in Lolita. I mean, I'll be overly-sweet if I'm in the mood, but not to be the ~perfect Lolita.~

2.) On the flip side, I wouldn't curse a lot or act rude because I want to be the ~opposite of the IDEAL Lolita~. I really can't stand when people do that, though honestly I can't stand trashiness like that in the first place so I guess when people do that just to prove a (silly) point it just makes it worse (I hope that doesn't come off as overly harsh!).

3.) Go camping! I like camping, a lot. I go on little family camping trips every year, and while I like to dress as cute as I can (pink denim shorts and Sanrio t-shirts, anyone?), Lolita would be WAY over-doing it. I guess this is sort of a "duh" point, but I have heard some strange stories of girls wearing brand socks during gym and such so I guess this wouldn't be TOO far-fetched.

4.) Do any dirty activities! So, no gardening, and depending on the recipe sometimes no cooking too... however "loli-able" those activities may be (though baking simple, less messy things and watering a potted flower are perfectly fine!).

5.) Work! Well, there are certain things I could wear to work, I suppose. Victorian Maiden has released some very simple, very cute OPs that would be fine if I was working as a secretary or an office. Still, I would never DREAM of wearing super-OTT AP to work (unless I actually working at Angelic Pretty, but unless they decide to set up a store in NYC I HIGHLY doubt that's ever going to happen ^^;).

6.) Wear it to a very formal event/a wedding. Again, there's certain things that might be acceptable, but I'm leaving the more OTT things home for somebody else's event. I'm normally not one for ~fashion faux paxs~ (I gladly wear my white boots after labor day regularly!), but if there is one I can't stand it's upstaging a person at THEIR event!! So rude!

7.) Go to a sketchy area! I would avoid dabbling around those areas anyhow, but wearing Lolita would make me feel SUPER unsafe. Maybe it's the sheltered suburban kid in me coming out when I say this, but I'd feel like dressing strangely in a sketchy place would make me a bigger target for mugging and such (I REALLY hope that didn't sound ignorant...).

8.) Wear SUPER OTT sweet to school! I have worn some sweet to school, but unless it was Halloween, I wouldn't put more than two bows in my hair and more than three rings on for school (only one featuring a cupcake :P).

9.) Go to a gym! Again, kind of a "dur hur" point, but there have been people on EGL asking about wearing Lolita to a gym, and really? That's just silly xD

10.) Play DDR! One of my biggest sources of exercise besides walking is DDR. When I play DDR, I play mostly on heavy and challenge it's VERY high-impact. I sweat. A lot. Lolita+copious amounts of sweat= bad thing.

Style update- 5/14/2011 (Hime-kaji inspired)

On Saturday, I went to the mall with my sister and my mom. I wanted something cute to wear, and since I was in a hime kind of mood that day, I went with an outfit somewhat inspired by hime kaji:

Rundown:
Sweater/pearls/tights/pearl headband (not pictured): Forever 21
Shoes: Bodyline
Skirt: Modified Old Navy
I love these shoes, but I admit I only wore them for the outfit shot! :( They're super cute, but to be honest I can't figure out how to wear them without scratching the wood floors in my house! I'm not used to wearing shoes without a back (I've always despised flip flops and I usually only wear sandals for hiking type things so sportsy sandals only!), so I have a feeling that I'm the problem and not the shoes themselves. But they're just so darn cute! If anybody has any tips for wearing shoes like these or better yet, ideas for cute hime shoes with backs (preferably something affordable!), please do tell! :)

I've had this outfit on my camera for FOREVER, but I have yet to put it up. I forget the day but I wore this to school:
Rundown:
Cardigan: H&M
Top: Wal-Mart
Skirt: K-star (BABY replica)
Shoes: Bodyline)
Bow: Forever 21
Pins: Claire's/Hot Topic/convention
This outfit is somewhat similar to what I wore to Anime Boston, except without the pins (as I actually bought them there from the lovely Miss Caro of F Yeah Lolita!) and with a purple-pink blouse from Forever 21 instead of the tank top (in case you're curious, it's a hot pink top with Marie the Cat on it). I also wore my pink wig but was an idiot and just pinned back the bangs instead of cutting them and looked liked a derf all day >.>
Thank you for reading!

30 Day Challenge: Day 7

And here marks the first week of the 7-day Challenge!! :) This week just flew by- it's not that I haven't been very busy (in fact, I've had quite a bit of free time the last two nights!), but for some reason I just feel like this week's gone by fairly fast, despite the crummy weather in my area.
Here's the run-down:
Day 1 – 10 things about your lolita bubble.
Day 2 – 10 things you love in lolita.
Day 3 – 10 things you hate in lolita.
Day 4 – 10 different kinds of food you like.
Day 5 – 10 items from your wishlist.
Day 6 – 10 things you can’t live without in lolita.
Day 7 – 10 people who inspire your lolita style.
Day 8 – 10 songs that inspire you for lolita.
Day 9 – 10 things you will never do in lolita.
Day 10 – What’s in your bag?
Day 11 – One day in your lolita life in pictures.
Day 12 – A picture of yourself before lolita came in to your life.
Day 13 – A picture of your favorite sweets.
Day 14 – A picture of your dream item.
Day 15 – A picture of your last lolita purchase.
Day 16 – Your outfit for the day.
Day 17 – What do you want more then anything right now?
Day 18 – A picture of your favorite lolita style.
Day 19 – What’s in your make-up bag?
Day 20 – A picture of a lolita friend.
Day 21 – Your favorite fictional lolita.
Day 22 – A picture of your room.
Day 23 – A picture of your handwriting.
Day 24 – A picture of you from a meet.
Day 25 – Your favorite lolita themed artwork.
Day 26 – Your Facebook profile picture.
Day 27 – One song that fits your favorite lolita style.
Day 28 – A picture of the perfect lolita location.
Day 29 – A picture of a lolita you would love to meet for real.
Day 30 – A photo of yourself taken today and 3 good things that’s happened over the last 30
days.
1.) Misako Aoki!! I just love Misako. Her style's just so adorable, yet it looks comfy to wear daily!! :)
2.) Maki! The Angelic Pretty designer is just adorable, and she looks right at home in her brand. :)
3.) Victoria Suzanne! I know I'm constantly referencing her blog, but I just love it so much! Victoria's so cute and sweet, and I just adore her style! :)
4.) Deka Wanko from... well, Deka Wanko! I admit, I haven't watched much of the show (I don't speak Japanese and I can't find a properly translated version! :( ) but from all the screenshots I've seen I just lover her style. Very cute, but very unique!!
5.) Mana from Starre Princess! Mana is actually hime gyaru, but she many elements of hime gyaru can easily be applied to Lolita so she counts. ;P
6.) Takulu!! While I do love classic and more toned-down styles, I've always had a deep appreciation for OTT-sweet. It's so difficult to pull off well (there's SUCH a fine line between under-doing it, over-doing it, and doing it just right!), and even if it's not everybody's cup of tea there's no denying that being a well-done OTT Lolita is an admirable achievement!! In my opinion, Takulu is one of the best-done OTT sweet Lolitas out there!!
7.) Miss Lumpy! She's a classic Lolita blogger with such a lovely sense of style!! I had the pleasure of meeting her (albeit very shortly) at Anime Boston, and she was very sweet and polite. :)

Unfortunately, I seem to be having a bit of a writer's block moment and I can't really think of any body else who influences my Lolita style. However, I do have a style update which I will put up in a couple of minutes!! :)

30 Day Challenge: Day 6!!

Today's challenge is "10 things I can't live without in Lolita." Now, most of the stuff I cover here is going to be obvious, but that's because my coords and style are constantly changing like the wind so there aren't really "non-essential" items that I consider essential (except for one in particular- can you guess what that is? :P)
Day 30 – A photo of yourself taken today and 3 good things that’s happened over the last 30
days.
1.) A petticoat! One of the most obvious Lolita items, definitely essential for that "Lolita silhouette!!" :) However, at the moment my petticoat is very flat, so I've been layering skirts or if I'm feeling lazy I just wear the petticoat that's built into the skirt (which never gives very much poof at all!). However, I would like to eventually purchase one of Candy Violet's fluffy petticoats- I've heard they hardly ever deflate at all, and the price isn't too bad at all at around $60!! :)

2.) Basic skin makeup! Without my foundation, my cover-up and my pressed powder, I've got to admit that my skin is a total mess. It's not that I don't take care of it- I make sure to wash my face every morning and night (sometimes with rinses in between!), exfoliate, moisturize if needed and I wear sunblock every day. But still, due to being a teenager and possibly just genetics, my skin is pretty blotchy. So, skin makeup is a life saver!

3.) Pink nail polish! I try to have a different shade of pink on my nails every week, though I admit I've been lazy lately and haven't been maintaining my nails in between color changes so they get very chippy. :( Recently, I tried black nail polish with pink polka dots and while I didn't much care for the black part (somehow, it made my nails look stubby...?) the polka dots were simply darling!! I'd love to get into nail art someday; nothing's more adorable than nails with oodles of cute charms and designs on them!

4.) Bloomers! Actually, I don't always wear bloomers in Lolita (I like to wear regular shorts I have that aren't as long so they don't peek out under my skirt), I just love the way bloomers look alone! I like to wear bloomers to bed, and when I was in a play this fall I often wore bloomers under my skirts days that I had rehearsal so that after school I could just practice in my bloomers in the much-hotter auditorium and be able to roll around like I wouldn't be able to do in a skirt.

5.) Blush! I think that most everybody looks better with a touch of color to their cheeks- maybe a rosy pink, or a more mature, more natural color. I use a blush from Sephora that I got on sale, and I just love it! It's pink enough to be noticeable, but not too overpowering. :)

6.) Lip stuffs!! I'm super guilty of wasting my money on my collection of lip things- glosses, lipsticks, lip liner... it's all so addictive!! I think I look best in either a nude color or a brighter shade of red (though the red mostly goes for the winter, when my hair darkens and I often wear black).

7.) Cute bags! I'm also quite guilty of collecting bags, though regrettably I don't have any strictly "Lolita" bags outside the print totes that Bodyline has. I change my purse pretty much every day to go with my outfit, though a lot of my purses have gotten beat up and over-used so I don't always have the perfect bag to pair with an outfit.

8.) Flats!! Okay, I guess this isn't really an ESSENTIAL- after all, I often wear different types of shoes- but when I'm feeling a bit lazy and really only feel like half-assing an outfit, I wear flats. My favorite pair I own is a dusty rose leatherette pair adorned with a simple bow from Forever 21!! <3

9.) Mascara! My lashes are pretty small on their own, and pretty light, so mascara really helps bring them out!! I still want to learn to put falsies on properly (which might be as simple as buying a decent tube of lash glue, as every time I've tried to put on falsies I've had some sort of mishap with the glue) so I can TRULY transform my eyes :)

10.) Accessories!! Any outfit can look terribly "bleh" without accessories, but even the worst outfit can instantly look fabulous with the addition of a few accessories (though I guess I shouldn't say the WORST, because I suppose some outfits are beyond saving, but... you get the idea :P). I always feel so half-assed unless I have a necklace or too!!

Thank you for reading!!

30 Day Challenge: Day 5

Hey guys!! Today's challenge is to list ten items from my wishlist. I do have a LOT of things on my wishlist, but keep in mind that whatever brand item I post here, I'm going for the replica version (I know, I know, replicas are immoral, but at the moment even if I do get hired it will be nigh impossible for me to afford any Lolita for a while, but I swear once I'm debt-free I'll start saving up for/buying brand items in order to give back to the brands I love!).
Here's the rundown:
Day 30 – A photo of yourself taken today and 3 good things that’s happened over the last 30
days.

1.) Milky-chan!! I just love fawns so much so of course I love Milky-chan. :) I know a lot of people don't like the print version of this (the applique version seems to be much preferred!) but I just adore this print in all color ways. If I do get it, I might end up getting the pink color way, though it would be nice if I could find a replica version of the jsk in the white color way!! I love both, though, so it's not that big a deal if I can't.
2.) ALPACAS!! <3 Many of you have probably seen these little stuffed alpacas, found in those catcher machines in Japan, floating around the Japanese fashion community. I'd love one of these little guys as a bag charm!! Especially in pink, though the Disney versions are adorable as well (albeit a bit pricey...).
3.) Pony OP!! (I believe the name might be Angel Pony, but I'm not entirely sure... it's from Angelic Pretty though!). I've always loved the little pony on the dress! The only thing is, I'm pretty sure the replica version of this isn't be sold anymore, which is a shame- I just adore this dress!!
4.) One of Angelic Pretty's newer prints, Aqua Princess!! I couldn't find a picture of the strapless version of this dress in pink that wasn't blocked by the web filters (yes, I'm updating from school... don't judge me! ;P), so I just went with my second favorite color way, the black. I really do love this print in all colors though, but as usual pink is my favorite!
5.) Angelic Pretty's Magic Pony bag! I have a unicorn bag right now (which my lovely friends have affectionately nicknamed POT...?), but he's a bit too small and getting dirty. I'd love to have a higher quality pony/unicorn bag to hold my smaller school books/pencils/iPod in!!
6.) Melty Chocolate!! I also love the mint color way, but considering I'd like to dye my hair pink some day I'd like to get the pink color way whenever possible. Chocolate is one of my favorite foods, so it's only natural I love this print ;P
7.) Sugary Carnival!! I recently ordered the black color way of the jsk (the replica, of course) which I await with bated breath, but some day I'd love to own the skirt version of this print in either lavender or pink! This print is just so cute, and I can totally see why it's so popular. :)
8.) Tea Party shoes!! I'd to have a rainbow of these some day, but first I'd like to get the pink and black version, both with the lower heels. I know a lot of people think Tea Parties are super over done, which they are to an extent, but they're so cute and I bet they'd be good for days when you walk a lot, like at conventions and such. :)
9.) Usakumya bag!! I'd like to one day own a full-sized version of this bag, but it'd also be great to own the pouchette version. Lots of people find Bunny-bear bags creepy, but I think they're simply darling!! But... that's probably the rabbit/bear lover in me coming out (yes, I love both :P).
10.) Vanilla-Chan!! I love cats, and Vanilla-Chan is simply darling! I'd like to get the OP version of this, as I want at least one long-sleeved OP and I think the OP version would work well for a hime-inspired Lolita coordinate. I admit, though, I don't really care for the cream capelet with the dress, but again I'm at school and this was the only picture I could find.

Thanks again for reading!! Bye!!
