Magical Girl MiNTY

A couple weeks ago (yes, that long ago... I had mid-terms all this week; don't judge me!) I attempted to style my wig with Sailor Moon-style buns. The results were a bit sloppy, as I had to rush at the last minute to finish them before I left, but I was pretty happy with them overall!
 Rundown:
Jsk: Dream of Lolita (AP replica)
Tights: Forever 21
Boots/blouse: Bodyline
Wig: Cosplaywigsusa
This pic was totally edited to hell and back :P Picnik is shutting down, so they were letting non-members try the premium options. I'm not sure how I feel about it; it looks a bit TOO plastic-y for me >.>

Between the giant-ass bow that came with my blouse, the bow-dazzled boots and the Sailor Moon-inspired buns, I really did feel like a magical girl! (even though 17 might be a bit late for that... almost 18! Yikes!) I'd love to cosplay a magical girl someday (my top choice would be the magical girl version of Charlotte from Madoka Magica!), but sometimes I feel like I'm getting too old for that... I've heard the best guideline is to stay within three or four years of the character you're cosplaying's age, but I've seen people cosplay 12-13 year old magical girls who were definitely in their late teens-early twenties and pull it off beautifully, so idk.

This year at Anime Boston, I'm actually cosplaying for the first time in forever! (my last one was a dramatically failed attempt at crossplaying Dark Mousy from DN Angel, except I was 13 and didn't know how to sew or use any sort of makeup so it looked TERRIBLE). I'm doing a group vocaloid cosplay with my two brohoes, Janel and Brianna. Janel is going to be Hatsune Miku, Brianna is going to be Kasane Teto, and I'm going to be the new Korean vocaloid, Seeu! I admit I've always had a soft spot for cat ears (though only when they're appropriate, of course!) so SeeU's costume design was especially adorable to me :) On Saturday I plan on wearing fairy Lolita (I should be getting my Milky Planet replica OP soon!) and hopefully will be attending or maybe even participating in the Lolita fashion show! Please look for me there!

Finally, speaking of cat ears, here's a video of the coolest thing ever:
I really want one when they come out, except... where the hell would you wear something like that? >.> The only place that comes to mind is a convention, but I don't attend conventions enough for it to be worth it... oh well!

That's it for now! Happy almost- Chinese New Years you guys!! :)

    1. Thank you!! :) I've bought a couple of wigs from the place I got this wig from (cosplaywigsusa.com) and they're absolutely fabulous! I definitely recommend them if you want a good wig for Lolita :) (though I believe all their Lolita wigs are at gothiclolitawigs.com now)
I do like replicas, I think they're a great way for girls who have absolutely no way to fit in/afford the original prints to be able to wear and enjoy them. Although, I do believe that if you can fit into the original and it isn't super-expensive or rare, you should make an attempt to buy the original out of respect for the designers :) That's just my personal opinion though.
